The Apostle Paul in his letter to the Romans, speaking about the inhabitants of Rome in his day, confirmed that “… what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. Ever since the creation of the world his invisible nature, namely, his power and deity has been clearly perceived in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse” (Rom 1:19–20 RSV).

Two thousand years later the debate about the existence of God continues and the evidence of creation is still one of the great proofs of God’s existence. Yet since the time of Charles Darwin men have sought to deride the idea of a Creator and creation and have insisted that the world was formed completely by random forces acting over huge time periods.

Man’s knowledge of the complexity of creation at both the microbiological and astronomical levels has increased dramatically over the last few decades. This evidence of increased complexity gives even more evidence of design. Yet some of us might think that the arguments themselves for creation or for evolution have become so complex that without specialist scientific knowledge we are unable to access the evidence of God as the Creator.

Paul’s advice though was that the visible natural world was evidence of God’s existence and that this evidence is accessible to all of us. Brother David Pearce’s book of a mere 32 pages provides brief yet compelling and convincing evidence from creation. The handful of clear and simple examples from nature outlines the argument for intelligent design. The inter-relatedness of different organisms and systems in creation demonstrates to the thoughtful person the wisdom of the Creator. The book is available from CSSS for $7.70.
