We are building every day
In a good or evil way;
And the structure as it grows
Will our inmost self expose.

Till in every arch and line
All our faults and failings shine,
It may grow a castle grand
Or a wreck upon the sand.

Do you ask what building this,
That can show both pain and bliss,
That can be both dark and fair?
Lo! Its name is Character

Build it well, what’ere you do,
Build it straight and strong and true:
Build it high and clean and broad,
Build it for the eye of God.

Hymn 114 from The Christadelphian Sunday School Hymn Book

“And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things” Psa 45:4

“Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh upon the outward appearance, but the LORD on the heart” 1 Sam 16:7
