In August 1994, a prospectus was drawn up for a magazine, outlining its objectives and committee structure. Brother Barry Williams was asked to manage the production of this magazine, for which the name The Lampstand was chosen.

After 20 years of service in that role, Brother Barry has decided to close his compositor’s software and pass it on to another. The Lampstand committee would like to say a big ‘thankyou’ to him for his labours over that period. Brother Barry’s knowledge of the technical procedures involved, his reliability and his attention to detail well-equipped him for these labours in the service of his Lord. This meant that the magazine was always of high quality and delivered on time. No request made to him was ever treated lightly and he always did what he could to fulfil it. His advice and opinion has been sought over the many issues that have arisen over the years. The depth of his experience in ecclesial matters, his wisdom and the knowledge of his Lord and Saviour made for sound and valued responses.

Mention should also be made of the help available at Brother Barry’s right hand from his competent and beloved wife, Sister Sandra: they worked together as a team. We all join in thanking them and wish them well as they “occupy” until our Lord comes.

Though no longer responsible for the publication of the magazine, Brother Barry will remain on the committee.
